Blue Rapids Provincial Recreation Area

The Blue Rapids Provincial Recreation Area is one of two parks located off the Cowboy Trail (Highway 22) near the Town of Drayton Valley.

Established to preserve the watershed of the North Saskatchewan River and designed to host a variety of outdoor recreational activities restricted in Provincial Parks, the recreation area covers approximately 19.6 km2 (3640 ha) of protected lands. Within this area are over 120 km of managed trails and scenic picnic areas for any outdoor enthusiast.

It is here you can enjoy canoeing or kayaking, archery, horseback riding, target shooting, cross-country skiing and more. Off-Highway Vehicle Riding is a popular sport within the park with a number of designating trails reserved for off-highway motorized vehicle use.

Whether you prefer a lazy day by the river or high-energy outdoor activity, the Blue Rapids Provincial Recreation area has something for everyone.
